A Historic Homestead in Hooks Mills, West Virginia
The house we bought in West Virginia in 1998 was built circa 1835 by Captain David Pugh, although this detail was not known to us at the time. Although it was remarkably well preserved, as with any old house, there was plenty of work to be done. Click here for a brief history of the house and our efforts to renew its lease on life.
In September 2004, as Hampshire County, West Virginia celebrated its 250th anniversary, the Captain David Pugh House was accepted on the National Register of Historic Places. We have reproduced and augmented the information from our application on the links below.
