slowfood.com www.slowfood.com is the website of the International Movement for the Defense of and the Right to Pleasure. From their manifesto: "We are enslaved by speed and have all succumbed to the same insidious virus: Fast Life, which disrupts our habits, pervades the privacy of our homes and forces us to eat Fast Foods. Our defense should begin at the table with Slow Food. Let us rediscover the flavors and savors of regional cooking and banish the degrading effects of Fast Food." Check out the Slow Food Award winners.

FortEdwards.orgThe Fort Edwards Foundation is a local non-profit organization that was formed to preserve and investigate the site of the colonial Fort Edwards on the Cacapon River at Capon Bridge, West Virginia. During the early years of the French and Indian War (c. 1757), Joseph Edwards's property became the site of one of the many forts guarding the Virginia Frontier from the French and their Indian allies. The fort was under the command of Col. George Washington (who, years earlier, had surveyed a number of properties, including Edwards', along the Cacapon for Lord Fairfax.) It's an interesting site with plenty of history, as well as reports on the archaeological excavations that have been done at the fort site.

StewardsStewards of the Potomac Highlands is a non-profit organization formed to preserve open spaces, forests, farmland, rural communities and towns, and foster stewardship of the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia, Virginia, and Maryland.
